About Daraja Partners

Daraja Partners is a nonprofit consulting firm that advances locally led development in Sub-Saharan Africa. We bridge the gap between donors and do-ers by working closely with both funders and nonprofit leaders on a wide range of initiatives, including strategic planning, leadership bootcamps, and donor education. Drawing on more than 20 years of combined experience in nonprofit and philanthropic leadership, we help partners align their values with meaningful, sustainable impact.

Position Overview

Daraja Partners is seeking a creative and motivated Communications Intern to support our efforts to build a more visible and engaging public presence, especially on LinkedIn, and to contribute to broader communications initiatives. This is an unpaid internship designed for a college or graduate student (or recent graduate) interested in philanthropy, international development, and/or nonprofit communications.

Time Commitment:
~2–3 hours per week (flexible)

Key Responsibilities

Social Media & Digital Engagement

  • Manage and grow Daraja Partners’ presence on LinkedIn and other relevant platforms. 
  • Draft and schedule posts that highlight our thought leadership, programs, and impact. 
  • Monitor engagement and suggest ideas to increase reach and interaction. 

Content Support

  • Assist with updates and edits for our website (content drafting, refinement, and proofreading). 
  • Support regular newsletters – from drafting content to formatting and distribution. 
  • Help promote and document webinars, events, and resources (e.g., summaries, promotional posts). 

Communications Strategy

  • Brainstorm ways to enhance our external communications and storytelling. 
  • Help research trends in philanthropy and international development to inform content ideas. 

Who We’re Looking For

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Strong interest in philanthropy, international development, nonprofit leadership, or related fields. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn and social media best practices. 
  • Comfort with basic content creation and a willingness to learn new tools. 
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines. 

Nice to Have (but not required):

  • Experience with newsletters (Mailchimp or similar) 
  • Basic graphic design skills (Canva or similar)
